In a bizarre partnership that defies conventional expectations, the game developer has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Disclosed

According to the official statement, "A mysterious meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of prohibited practices and monstrous changes reverberate through the shadows." The storyline features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a secret group.

The adventure concentrates on "bizarre tests and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Changes

The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Extra Material

Players who finish the mission will obtain an special katana in addition to multiple items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

This release also adds the game's latest free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
