It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has won it all.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing at all," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back plans to retire, this tournament is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
